Interim Dean Julie Olson-Buchanan of the Craig School of Business is honored to name Elliot Meme as the 2020 Graduate Student Medalist.
The Deans select the medalist based upon academic excellence, community involvement, and other achievements. Meme was named an awardee this week along with nine other outstanding graduate students.
“I’d like to thank everyone in both the undergraduate and graduate business programs for their support, encouragement, and dedication. Without the support of the entire business school, no student would succeed,” said Meme.
Meme, of Martinez, CA, completed his MBA in business administration with a 4.0 GPA. Meme earned his B.S. in business administration at Fresno State in 2018. As a graduate student, Meme participated in a variety of projects including one that helped improve the safety culture of a geomatics engineering firm.
Meme conducted original research on ethical decision-making for his thesis. Meme worked with Dr. Zhanna Bagdasarov where they looked at the differences between Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) and non-ROTC students using the sensemaking model of ethical decision-making. His thesis is being published through the Henry Madden Library via ProQuest and Meme and Dr. Bagdasarov will be continuing refinement of the paper over the summer to submit it for publication in an academic peer-review journal.
As a student assistant for the human resources office on campus, he was able to help faculty, staff and students. Meme received the Most Outstanding Department of Management Student award in 2018. Meme was a proud supporter of Fresno State athletics and student-athletes during his time at the University, making it a goal to attend 350 games. He attended 348 before all public events were canceled.
Meme is keeping his options open for his post-graduation plans. He has received much encouragement and support from the Craig School of Business and the Athletics department. He has enjoyed his time at Fresno State and will hold dearly the memories and friendships made.
